Instructions for use of Medtrokarte Identity control prior to transfusions

Prepare required test card or number of test strips. Insert one drop of patient’s blood into cells of first test strip. Use further test strips for blood units correspondingly.

Blood can be inserted by:

a.) syringe and needle, b.) pipette, c.) glass- or plastic capillary, d.) pipette systems of various producers.
Needle or pipette: inject directly through transparent film. Capillary: pre-cut transparent film. Attention: glass capillaries might break!

Mix antisera and blood by lightly shaking the card. Wait until agglutinates are clearly visible.

AB0-identity: same reaction of all bloods against Anti-A (blue) and Anti-B (yellow).

Write data of patient and transfusion on self-adhesive carbon label, date and signature. When AB0-identity is confirmed pull off label and stick onto patient’s data sheet.

Store empty blood bag, all other transfusion utensils and Medtrokarte for 24 hours. Throw away afterwards. Never file test card! Even when covered and dried risk of infection persists, also for administrative staff.

Storage of Medtrokarte: 2 - 8° Celsius
